Three Surfers killed in Mexico

As an INSRIFF Journalist, I’m writing a piece of news on Three Surfers who were killed in Mexico. Authorities discovered three dead tourists in Mexico, with gunshot wounds to their heads, and someone had dumped their bodies in a well. Three men tried to stop the theft of their truck and attackers assaulted them, indicating a case of carjacking.

Two of the men are brothers and Australian named Jake Robinson and Callum Robinson while the third is their American friend named Jack Rhoad. They disappeared while they were on a surfing trip in Ensenada. The relatives identified the bodies of the three men.

Authorities found the bodies in a 15ft deep well about 4 miles away in the town named Santo Tomas. A fourth dead body was also present in the well that was lying there for longer period.

Baja California is most terrorizing state in Mexico and had the second-highest murder rate in the country in 2023. The Defence Secretary said that most murders are related to drug trafficking.

The families of the dead surfers were shocked when they heard the news of their deaths. The murders have caused a state of uproar and fear among the people of Ensenada. People protested and marched with surfboards and demanded justice for the departed. People also said they wanted to be safe in their own state and country and asked the Government to take action against the criminals.

This is not the first case of killing, there have been similar cases of deaths of surfers in the past.

About 1.6 million Americans live in Mexico, making it the top tourist destination for Americans. Data provided information that in 2022, 192 US citizens died in Mexico, with 46 of them being killed.
